About Me

The Pharmacy Years

I never thought I’d really be a pharmacist. I was certain I’d be a professional musician: at university I was running one of the largest UK raves of its time and bringing people together, uniting with the power of music. But things didn’t go that way.

A certified “legal drug dealer” at just 24-years-old, I was eager to bring good health to my local community as a pharmacist. Instead I was a firsthand witness to patients going home with shopping bags full of drugs, but never getting better. In fact, I saw regular patients were often prescribed even more medication to counteract the negative side effects of the initial medication! These people were staying sick, and some were actually developing even more sickness and disease. Something didn’t seem right.

Curious to learn how I could improve my own health, I began attending regular health seminars. I discovered an in-depth approach to health and vitality that requires understanding the origin of sickness and learning how to prevent it, rather than suppress it. I saw a good improvement in my own health and I knew I needed to bring this to the suffering patients.

I created detailed lifestyle plans called Healthy Shopping Lists providing clients with simple food swaps, tools, and websites to support their specific condition(s). Incredibly, within two weeks I was receiving testimonials from patients who were starting to see improvements in their health, and in just a few months, some were advised by their Doctor that they could lower the dose of their medications or even stop taking it completely!

I desperately wanted to tell everyone about this. There could be a total revolution to the health industry if enough people knew the possibilities! My message was halted by corporate management who prioritised profits over health, and they saw me as a threat.

The Turning Point

Diagnosed ulcerative colitis, I was housebound with this debilitating illness. I was told by doctors that my condition was incurable and that I would have to take medication for the rest of my life. Just like my pharmacy patients, I suffered the awful side effects of medication, leaving me completely hopeless – even suicidal.

It was here that I was presented with the choice that would mark the turning point in his life: act as a guinea pig for a new and untested drug, or undergo a colectomy (surgical removal of the colon).

I chose neither, and took the option unknown to conventional medicine and even to myself.

The Tools

I embarked upon a journey of profound healing. I learnt from people who had great success in curing themselves or others from chronic illness. I studied and learned to implement natural treatments including Ayurvedic practices and dietary advice from Paleo and SCD (Specific Carbohydrate Diet) branches. I studied spiritual healing methods like meditation and Yoga. I also studied mind power techniques like self hypnosis and NLP. I even discovered the powerful techniques of sound and music therapy as tools for reducing stress and promoting physical and emotional healing thanks to my lifelong love for music.

I broke free from the burdens of my illness without medication.

Experiencing this illness provoked an even greater empathy for the pharmacy patients of my past. My struggle with severe illness forced me to completely reinvent my life and rethink how I wanted to help people do the same.

Of course I no longer practice as a pharmacist: my entire perception of disease and how to cure it changed through my experience. I believe that the stress associated with modern living is the root cause of disease and poor health, and that treatment and prevention begins with self-belief.

SOMA Breath

As a pharmacist, I found solace in my local sauna. That’s where I first discovered the power of breath. I would naturally extend my exhales and even make toning sounds with my voice to calm down and enter a deep meditative state. To the surprise of others I was able to stay inside the sauna for much longer than other people!

After I’d fallen ill, my dear friend Swami Ambikananda introduced me to holistic methods of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Pranayama (breath) to improve my health. When I learned the extended exhalation, breath retention, and chanting/toning techniques, it became the catalyst for my cure.

I went back into the sauna and revisited my instinctive methods for relieving stress. I combined it with my own style of self hypnosis and visualization techniques, and with my music that helped to rapidly heal my mind, body, and spirit.
